Starting in 2025, Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will see an increase of 2.5% for over 72.5 million people across the nation.
This adjustment will impact about 68 million Social Security recipients, with the increased benefits being effective from January 2025. Additionally, nearly 7.5 million SSI recipients will see their adjusted payments starting December 31, 2024. (It's important to note that some individuals may receive both Social Security and SSI benefits.)

In 2025, the maximum earnings subject to Social Security tax will rise to $176,100. For those under full retirement age, the earnings limit will increase to $23,400. Keep in mind that if earnings exceed this threshold, a deduction of $1 from benefits will be applied for every $2 earned over the limit.
Individuals reaching their full retirement age in 2025 will have an increased earnings limit of $62,160. In this case, there will be a $1 deduction for every $3 earned beyond this amount until the person reaches full retirement age. Anyone who is at full retirement age or older throughout the year can earn without any limit.

You can also opt to receive your notices online rather than by mail when you log in or set up a my Social Security account. Just remember to select how you prefer to be notified when your COLA notice is ready to view: via email, text message, or both.
